Next door to Tarneit

A family practice minutes from Tarneit.

Tarneit sits right beside Hoppers Crossing to the west, and our Sayers Road practice is only a few minutes from Thomas Carr College. That can make it simpler to slot a dental visit in between school runs, training sessions and weekend games.

The school years are busy ones for teeth. Adult teeth erupt, bites develop, wisdom teeth begin to appear on X-rays and contact sport brings the risk of a knock. Dr Damien Zhao has a special interest in orthodontics, including early assessments for children, and works alongside our general dentists so a growing smile is monitored over time.

When treatment is recommended, we explain why, outline the alternatives and give you an estimate before anything is booked. Orthodontic suitability is always confirmed after an assessment.

Tarneit families ask

Questions from Tarneit.

How do I get to Sayers Dental from Tarneit?

Tarneit is our neighbour to the west, so the trip to Sayers Road in Hoppers Crossing is a short drive. If you know Thomas Carr College, we are a few minutes from there, and free on-site parking is available.

Can my child be seen on a Saturday?

Yes. We open on Saturdays as well as Tuesday to Friday, which can help when school and weekday activities make daytime visits hard. If you commute from Tarneit station on the Geelong line, a weekend visit may also be easier for you. Check our contact page for current hours.

Does the CDBS cover braces?

No. The Child Dental Benefits Schedule covers basic care for eligible children aged 0 to 17, such as check-ups, X-rays, cleans, fissure sealants and fillings, up to a capped amount over two calendar years. Orthodontic and cosmetic treatment sit outside the scheme. We can check your child's eligibility for basic care when you book.

What should I do if a tooth is knocked out at sport?

If it is an adult tooth, pick it up by the crown rather than the root, rinse it briefly in milk if it is dirty, and either ease it back into the socket or keep it in milk. Then call us on (03) 9749 1178 straight away; we hold appointments for urgent cases and will try to fit you in that day. Never try to replace a baby tooth. For a head injury, heavy bleeding or trouble breathing, call 000 or head to your nearest hospital emergency department.

Where do we park?

There is free on-site parking at our ground-floor practice, which shares a building with Montessori Minds Hoppers Crossing, so you will not need to hunt for a space.

Will my health fund cover orthodontics?

It depends on your policy, as orthodontic cover and waiting periods vary between funds. We use HICAPS so eligible claims are processed on the spot. It is worth checking your extras cover, including any lifetime orthodontic limit, before treatment begins.
